US stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the real estate, utilities and technology sectors led shares higher. At the close of the NYSE, the DJIA rose 0.19% while the S&P 500 index gained 0.08%, and the NASDAQ Composite index advanced 0.09%. Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones on the NYSE by 1,985 to 1,344 and 154 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2,225 advanced and 1,985 declined, while 227 ended unchanged. During the last trading session, the FSSTI index rose 13.73pt to 3,178.55. Among the top active stocks were EcoWise (+35.9%), Singapore Telecommunications (-1.2%), Sembcorp Marine (-2.4%), Thomson Medical (+5.9%) and UMS (+1.4%). The FTSE ST Mid Cap Index was up 0.5% while the FTSE ST Small Cap Index gained 0.8%. The broader market saw 310 gainers and 191 losers with total trading value of S$1.73b.
