Our current battery technology is a 50 years old one. Massive investment has been thrown into the sector in recent years and i am pretty sure, the next generation of batteries will change our daily lives forever.

Some notable shareholders of QuantumScape include Bill Gates and Volkswagen. QuantumScape’s partnership with Volkswagen dated back to the year 2012, two years after QuantumScape was founded. On the 31st of March 2021, QuantumScape Met Volkswagen Technical Milestone and got the final $100M Investment from the company.
Currently, the company is not making any profits and expecting commercialisation of its products to take place in the year 2025. I have attached their recent letter to shareholders here.
QuantumScape is therefore, long-term investment for those who are thinking of dumping some capital into it. I’m not suggesting that you make that investment, but investors would need to put that timeline into consideration.
But the potential is definitely there, considering how backward our battery technology is today. Who knows, like Tesla in the beginning, there were many unbelievers and critics. But those shareholders that bought right at the beginning are greatly rewarded today.
QuantumScape Board
QuantumScape’s board includes Tesla cofounder and former chief technology officer JB Straubel, well-known Kleiner Perkins venture capitalist John Doerr, and Frank Blome, who oversees battery research at Volkswagen. Bill Gates is also an early investor into the company.
