US stocks were mixed after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the energy, real estate and
materials sectors led shares higher and losses in the health, utilities and technology
sectors led shares lower. At the close of the NYSE, the DJIA rose 0.13% while the S&P
500 index was down 0.05%, and the NASDAQ Composite index slid 0.09%. Advancing
stocks outnumbered falling ones on the NYSE by 2,436 to 943 and 131 ended unchanged;
on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2,755 advanced and 1,525 declined, while 208 ended

During the last trading session, the FSSTI index rose 22.95pt to 3,187.23. Among the top
active stocks were Jiutian Chemical (-1.0%), Genting Singapore (+1.2%), Yangzijiang
Shipbuilding (-1.3%), Rex International (+2.8%) and GSS Energy (+13.8%). The FTSE ST
Mid Cap Index was up 0.6% while the FTSE ST Small Cap Index gained 0.6%. The
broader market saw 311 gainers and 202 losers with total trading value of S$1.11b.
