US stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the health, real estate and technology sectors led shares higher. At the close of the NYSE, the DJIA rose 0.06% while the S&P 500 index gained 0.47%, and the NASDAQ Composite index advanced 0.78%. Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones on the NYSE by 1,765 to 1,558 and 158 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2,269 advanced and 2,023 declined, while 196 ended unchanged. During the last trading session, the FSSTI index rose 9.03pt to 3,162.50. Among the top active stocks were MM2 Asia (+5.9%), Genting Singapore (-0.6%), Yangzijiang Shipbuilding (-0.7%), Jiutian Chemical (-1.1%) and Thomson Medical (-1.1%). The FTSE ST Mid Cap Index was down 0.02% while the FTSE ST Small Cap Index gained 0.13%. The broader market saw 232 gainers and 250 losers with total trading value of S$1.06b.
