US stocks were mixed after the close on Monday, as gains in the technology,
communication services and real estate sectors led shares higher, and losses in the materials, financials and industrials sectors led shares lower. At the close of the NYSE, the DJIA fell 0.25% while the S&P 500 index was up 0.18%, and the NASDAQ Composite index gained 0.74%. Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the NYSE by 1,817 to 1,529 and 149 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2,259 declined and 2,071 advanced, while 189 ended unchanged.
