US stocks were mixed after the close on Thursday, as gains in the technology, health and consumer discretionary sectors led shares higher and losses in the energy, financial and materials sectors led shares lower. At the close of the NYSE, the DJIA fell 0.62% while the S&P 500 index was down 0.04%, and the NASDAQ Composite index gained 0.87%. Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the NYSE by 2,151 to 1,158 and 159 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2,398 declined and 1,882 advanced, while 227 ended unchanged. During the last trading session, the FSSTI index fell 1.26pt to 3,138.31. Among the top active stocks were Rex International (-0.5%), Yangzijiang Shipbuilding (-1.4%), Genting Singapore (+0.6%), SIA (+1.4%) and MM2 Asia (-4.2%). The FTSE ST Mid Cap Index was down 0.3% while the FTSE ST Small Cap Index rose 0.2%. The broader market saw 210 gainers and 270 losers with total trading value of S$1.22b.
