US stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the consumer discretionary, technology and communication services sectors led shares higher. At the close of the NYSE, the DJIA rose 0.20% while the S&P 500 index gained 0.51%, and the NASDAQ Composite index advanced 0.79%. Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones on the NYSE by 1,773 to 1,503 and 187 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2,211 advanced and 2,046 declined, while 219 ended unchanged. During the last trading session, the FSSTI index fell 8.67pt to 3,109.20. Among the top active stocks were Sembcorp Marine (-2.1%), Thai Beverage (-2.1%), Golden Agri-Resources (+4.7%), Rex International (-1.1%) and Jiutian Chemical (-1.1%). The FTSE ST Mid Cap Index was up 0.01% while the FTSE ST Small Cap Index rose 0.11%. The broader market saw 237 gainers and 224 losers with total trading value of S$1.08b.
