US stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the technology,
consumer discretionary and health sectors led shares higher. At the close of the NYSE, the DJIA rose 0.03% while the S&P 500 index gained 0.03%, and the NASDAQ Composite index advanced 0.19%. Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the NYSE by 1,779 to 1,498 and 196 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2,585 declined and 1,728 advanced, while 216 ended unchanged. During the last trading session, the FSSTI index slid 37.39pt to 3,089.49. Among the top active stocks were Sembcorp Marine (-1.50%), Genting Singapore (-2.9%), Thai Beverage (-0.7%), ISDN (+4.3%) and Rex International (-0.6%). The FTSE ST Mid Cap Index was down 0.1% while the FTSE ST Small Cap Index fell 0.4%. The broader market saw 200 gainers and 284 losers with total trading value of S$1.42b.
