US stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the financials, industrials and materials sectors led shares lower. At the close of the NYSE, the DJIA fell 0.75% while the S&P 500 index was down 0.86%, and the NASDAQ Composite index slid 0.72%. Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the NYSE by 2,507 to 807 and 151 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2,858 declined and 1,429 advanced, while 229 ended unchanged. During the last trading session, the FSSTI index slid 34.01pt to 3,107.59. Among the top active stocks were Sembcorp Marine (-1.6%), Yangzijiang Shipbuilding (-2.8%), ComfortDelGro (-2.4%), Rex International (-3.1%) and MM2 Asia (-4.9%). The FTSE ST Mid Cap Index was down 1.0% while the FTSE ST Small Cap Index fell 1.3%. The broader market saw 143 gainers and 411 losers with total trading value of S$1.48b.
