US stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the real estate, consumer discretionary and financials sectors led shares lower. At the close of the NYSE, the DJIA fell 0.31% while the S&P 500 index was down 0.35%, and the NASDAQ Composite index slid 0.38%. Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the NYSE by 2,483 to 835 and 148 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 3,294 declined and 1,072 advanced, while 176 ended unchanged. During the last trading session, the FSSTI index gained 19.67pt to 3,166.81. Among the top active stocks were Sembcorp Marine (-1.7%), Yangzijiang Shipbuilding (-2.1%), MM2 Asia (+2.5%), ComfortDelGro (-0.6%) and Jiutian Chemical (+2.3%). The FTSE ST Mid Cap Index was up 0.1% while the FTSE ST Small Cap Index advanced 0.6%. The broader market saw 282 gainers and 213 losers with total trading value of S$1.29b.
