US stocks were mixed after the close on Thursday, as gains in the technology, real estate and and consumer staples sectors led shares higher and losses in energy, materials and industrials sectors led shares lower. At the close of the NYSE, the DJIA fell 0.19% while the S&P 500 index was up 0.13%, and the NASDAQ Composite index advanced 0.11%. Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the NYSE by 2,350 to 968 and 137 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 3,131 declined and 1,290 advanced, while 199 ended unchanged. During the last trading session, the FSSTI index fell 44.47pt to 3,086.97. Among the top active stocks were Sembcorp Marine (-0.9%), Yangzijiang Shipbuilding (-0.7%), OCBC Bank (-1.0%), Jiutian Chemical (-3.6%) and Rex International (-4.1%). The FTSE ST Mid Cap index was down 0.9% while the FTSE ST Small Cap Index fell 1.3%. The broader market saw 150 gainers and 402 losers with total trading value of S$1.48b.
